IPM provides custom gear components and CNC-machined products manufactured to the customers’ specifications. Industries currently served are construction, forestry, aerospace, defense, oil/gas, mining, agriculture, recreational and high performance automotive.

IPM’s ability to produce high-precision, quality gearing components fills a niche market that many manufacturers require.

We are a privately-owned and operated small business.

Company history

When was the company started and who founded it?
IPM was started in 1992 as a partnership between Dan Meyer and Larry Wilson.
 
When has there been major changes to the produce line or expansions?
- 1998: IPM purchased MST Gear from the Minneapolis-area to bring basic gearing capabilities to IPM.
- 2000: Major building expansion at the Waite Park facility to bring gear-cutting machinery all under one roof.
- 2007: Became ISO 9001 certified.
- 2018: Purchased first gear grinder and upgraded gear inspection equipment.
- 2018: Became AS9100D & ISO 9001:2015 certified.
- 2021: Dan Meyer retires from day-to-day operations and his son, Eric Meyer, purchases a majority share of the business.
 
What is significant/interesting about the history?
- IPM’s team members have an average length of employment of 10.1 years.
- Our facility consists of 30,000 sq. feet accommodating 12 CNC turning centers, 7 CNC milling centers, 8 CNC grinders (OD, IDG, gear grinders, surface grinder), 10 CNC gear cutters, and numerous other supporting equipment.
