Central Minnesota will celebrate Manufacturing Week in early October. Manufacturing is Central Minnesota’s second largest employing industry, accounting for over 15% of all employment in the region. Manufacturing provides average annual wages of almost $64k, that’s $10K higher than typical for the region. In fact, more wages are paid out from manufacturers than any other industry in the region, a whopping $2.65 billion in 2022!
 
This year CMMA will celebrate Manufacturing Week September 30 – October 5 with the Tour of Manufacturing events and activities. Our goals are to educate potential employees about careers in manufacturing, tour local manufacturing facilities, assist manufacturers, and increase the value of CMMA. To meet these goals, we will focus on marketing and social media campaigns, educational resources, manufacturing tours, as well as employer and community engagement. We will again offer a virtual magazine again, highlighting in-person and virtual tours scheduled during Manufacturing Week and throughout the year. This magazine is shared with local schools and communities to encourages parents, students, teachers, nonprofits, and job seekers to understand the career pathways available to them in manufacturing. Last year the magazine highlighted 29 in-person or virtual tours.
 
CMMA will once again host a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Jamboree, where school leaders, CTE faculty, and manufacturers learn how to strengthen manufacturing programs and training. The CTE Jamboree will be held on November 21, 2024 with the location to be determined.
