SPEAKER: King Banaian, Professor in the Department of Economics at St. Cloud State University
TOPIC: Economic Forecast

Dr. King Banaian is a professor in the Department of Economics at SCSU and director of the Center for Policy Research and Community Engagement. He specializes in the economy of central Minnesota and the state, monetary affairs and the economics of sports, with two books and more than forty articles discussing these topics. King is host of the King Banaian Show on The Biz 1440 KYCR in Minneapolis and co-author of the St. Cloud Area Quarterly Business Report. King was a state representative in the Minnesota House, District 15B, from 2011 to 2013.

TOPIC: Kimball Area High School's CTE Program & Makerspace

KAHS offers four CTE programs including business, FACS, technology education (shop classes) and agriculture education. Each program offers a sequence of courses that combine academic knowledge with technical and occupational skills. Cubs Career Pathways allow students to register for classes most likely to align with their future career pathway. Additionally, the Design Den is a newly-formed makerspace with lots of hands-on applications available for all Gr 6-12 students.

TOURS: Kimball Area High School CTE Facilities and Styme Industries

Styme Industries serves the global OEM market, bringing over 20 years of industry expertise to the manufacturing supply chain. Styme furnishes complete sheet metal job shop services including design, engineering, laser cutting, shearing, forming, metal fabrication, welding and packaging. By utilizing JobBoss manufacturing software for estimating, shop control, order entry/tracking, and cost evaluation, they are able to produce materials to customer specifications and timeframes.
