JIT Solutions to Engage, Invest and Retain Quality Workforce
 
Manufacturers will learn about the opportunities to recruit young, eager talent through the new CTE (Career and Technical Education) Internship Course and the Youth Skills Training Grant. Understand the legislature changes that provides an exemption of some of Minnesota’s child labor laws for 16- or 17-year olds.
 
The event will kick off with Labor Analyst, Tim O’Neill presenting on the local job market, workforce availability, and the importance to recruit young talent.
 
It will have a panel of employers that have been working with the program for the last year along with some educators and experts to share their experience of partnering together to implement paid internships for Juniors and Seniors in Manufacturing. The panel will explain the steps to get started, the training /supervisory requirements and the ongoing benefits from easy recruitment, limited paperwork, student excitement to learn and the extra support from the schools. There will be time for a question and answer session.
