HMLV or job shops are the most complex operations in manufacturing and the ERP or MES tools are generally inadequate because of inherent shortcomings in their functionalities and/or due to lack of good data resulting in GIGO (garbage in - garbage out). We will discuss how digital twin technology aided by AI is a game changer for jb shops, resulting in double digit KPI (revenue, profits, cash flow, on-time-delivery) benefits. Examples from real job shops will be included.

Vivek Saxena founded FactoryTwin in 2017 after spending 25 years in aerospace manufacturing, to help digitalize operations in the Manufacturing Industry using mature technologies like Data Analytics and Software driven Automation. Previously, he held jobs ranging from a shop supervisor (Pratt & Whitney) to a CEO of an aircraft company (Mooney). In between, he held leadership roles in Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management. Dr. Saxena is a recognized expert in the application of advanced digital technologies in manufacturing, a regular speaker at industry events and an advisor to investors, factory owners and C-level executives. He is also on the board of UMN Department of Aerospace and Mechanics. He finished his PhD in Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at the University of Cambridge (UK) in 1995.
