People side of business important for success and survival

Hi, I am a new member. I was drawn to the group for several reasons.

First, I have a preference and respect for organizations that build or manufacture. I was the Director of Administration for Mn/Dot in NE Mn. I took satisfaction from being part of the team for building and maintaining of the transportation system in our region.
Second, I have expertise and passion for human resources (HR) and labor relations (LR). The “people side” of business is most important for success and survival. It is also a most challenging topic for these reasons:

  • Many manufacturing organizations do not have human resource professionals on staff
  • The labor market, the workforce, regulations, competition are constantly changing
  • What has worked for us in the past, does not work now
  • We need to change our approaches to get, keep and manage workers.
I have been a recognized expert and leader in human resources and labor relations for decades:
  • A career as a senior manager in HR and LR
  • A professor in HR and LR in local colleges and universities
  • Service on local, state and national committees for the Society of Human Resource Management Society (SHRM)
  • Years of consulting, writing and presenting to a variety of organizations
  • Serve on the arbitration rosters for BMS and FMCS.
My decision to become a consultant was made for me when organizations would contact me for advice and assistance. In 2002, I formed Laumeyer Human Resource Solutions and created a website www.laumeyerhr.com.

I am a disabled Veteran and the owner and CEO. My staff is comprised of experienced senior HR professionals who are assigned to projects based upon their expertise.
