We are once again offering a virtual magazine, highlighting in-person and virtual tours scheduled in October, and throughout the year. This magazine is shared with local schools and communities to encourages parents, students, teachers, nonprofits, and job seekers to understand the career pathways available to them in manufacturing. All this year’s tours of manufacturing will be highlighted in the magazine.

CMMA will also continue to partner with DEED, CMJTS, and Career Solutions on school tours. Last year, hundreds of area students toured manufacturers throughout a 13-county region in central Minnesota, as well as attended career fairs. This year CMMA is offering transportation funding for area students to attend manufacturing tours.

CMMA will also host a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Jamboree at St. Cloud Technical and Community College on November 16, where school leaders, CTE faculty, and manufacturers learn how to strengthen manufacturing programs and training. Registration will open soon.

For more information on last year’s magazine and activities, go Central Minnesota Tour of Manufacturing VIRTUAL MAGAZINE or on the Manufacturing Month page at CMMAworks.org.

With 41,369 jobs at 1,212 establishments, manufacturing is the second largest industry in Central Minnesota. Average annual wages were $63,908 in 2022, well above the overall average across all industries of $53,352. Total payroll for manufacturing topped $2.64 billion, more than any other industry sector in the region. Manufacturing is vital to Central Minnesota’s economy and the region has the second highest concentration of manufacturing in the state. The largest type of manufacturing in the region is fabricated metal product manufacturing (7,942 jobs), food manufacturing, (7,501 jobs), and machinery manufacturing (4,357 jobs).

CMMA’s goals are to educate potential employees about careers in manufacturing, tour local manufacturing facilities, assist manufacturers, and increase the value of CMMA. To meet these goals, we will focus on marketing and social media campaigns, educational resources, manufacturing tours, as well as employer and community engagement.
