AMFA luncheon meeting in Virginia on November 14 - Iron Range Engineering
Topic: Iron Range Engineering: a new education model-Presentation by a student project team. President Bill Maki of NHED and Christine Kennedy, Director of IRE will be giving the update presentation on IRE.
Discussion and Tour:
Iron Range Engineering is a project based 4 year degree program accredited through Minnesota State University, Mankato and located in Virginia, Minnesota. IRE is a unique collaboration between Mesabi Range College, Itasca Community College, and Minnesota State University, Mankato. Students graduate with a B.S. in Engineering, with a focus area of their choice.
Iron Range Engineering is designed to meet the national call for a new approach to educate engineers, and foster innovation in scenic northern Minnesota. By interfacing with local industry through a unique project based approach, IRE continues to bring the learning experience closer to engineering practice than ever before.
TOUR
A tour of the entire IRE facility, including classrooms, projects, and labs; will be offered following the luncheon meeting. The tour will last approximately 20-30 minutes.
