PRESENTERS: Dan Solomon, LaRohn Latimer, and Rich Wessels from the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry
Hear from the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) about three employment-based training programs: Registered apprenticeship, Minnesota Dual-Training Pipeline and Youth Skills Training. Learn about ways to partner with these programs to support your current and future workforce needs.
Dan Solomon is the Manager of the Minnesota Dual-Training Pipeline program at Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry. Dan has spent over a decade in public service with an emphasis on education and workforce policy. He has a Master of Arts in Teaching from Hamline University and a bachelor’s from the University of Minnesota.
LaRohn Latimer is a Senior Field Representative for the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) working in the Apprenticeship unit since January of 2015. Before joining the DLI, LaRohn was the Transportation Program Manager at the YWCA St. Paul where he and his staff coached life skills, work readiness and helped more than 300 individuals earn a commercial driver’s license, leading to gainful employment.
For most of his professional career, LaRohn has been involved in workforce development serving as a Human Resources Generalist for Companies like Prudential, Securitas USA, and Carlson Companies.
LaRohn served as a member of the Governors Workforce Development Council and Employment Practices Committee; he also facilitates workshops for the Saint Paul Intervention Project to eliminate domestic violence. In his current role LaRohn works to advance the Minnesota Apprenticeship Initiative that focuses on developing apprenticeship in nontraditional sectors (Agriculture, Advanced Manufacturing, Health Care, Information Technology and Transportation).
