Don Westra founded West Tool & Design in 1990 to be a supplier of fixtures and machine tools to the electronics industry. The company quickly diversified into a supplier of parts, machines and systems to customers serving diverse markets such the mechanical equipment, aviation and medical device industries. They can support high-mix, low volume custom fabrication requirements.
 
In 2009 West Tool & Design purchased and began producing custom-sizable UL listed enclosures through a fabrication facility in Battle Lake, Minnesota. That business became West Tool Enclosures in 2012 and is now owned by Glen Westra.
 
Evan Westra began operating West Tool & Design after Don?s retirement in 2009 and became the owner in 2014. The commitment to excellence is as strong as ever.  West Tool & Design will continue to provide value to our customers through solutions to manufacturing needs with system design and build, precision components, fabrications, and assemblies.
 
Due to West Tool & Design?s strong growth in enclosures and junction boxes, West Tool Enclosures, Inc. became a separate company in 2012. Located in close proximity to West Tool & Design, both companies are under guidance of the next generation of the Westra family and the commitment to excellence is as strong as ever.
