TSMA Hybrid Meeting - Fergus Falls
TSMA Hybrid General Meeting on April 5 at M State in Fergus Falls and Tour of PAYDAC Plastics. Members may also join virtually.
Topic: Innovative Workforce Solutions - The Inclusive Workforce Employer Designation
Speakers: Chet Bodin, Carlye Carlson, Amy Johnson,
Amy Hochgraber will also discuss how M State supports manufacturers with DEI strategies.
Description:
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) remains the forefront of social challenges to be addressed. Data has proven that the more diverse the organization is, the more innovative and successful they are. The success of any business depends on hiring the right people. With the current workforce shortage, engaging and retaining all available workers is key. Attend TSMA's April meeting to learn what it means to be an inclusive employer. Receive tips and resources on how to begin, become, or optimize your ability to be an inclusive employer.
The Inclusive Workforce Employer or I-WE designation is an innovative workforce solution that emerged from discussions among several organizations in Northwest Minnesota brought together by the Regional Workforce Alliance.
Join us to hear from your manufacturing peer, Carlye Carlson from Brunswick New York Mills Operation, talk about what creating a DEI strategy means to their business. Amy Johnson will speak to her experience diving into this work on behalf of our manufacturers. Chet Bodin will discuss the Inclusive Workforce Employer (I-WE) Designation and what resources exist to support businesses wanting to be a designated inclusive workforce employer.
For more information about the I-WE program, please visit https://www.rwa-nw.org/inclusive-workforce-employer or contact Chet Bodin at chet.bodin@state.mn.us.
About the Speakers:

Carlye Carlson is a Human Resources Manager at Brunswick New York Mills. Tour: PAYDAC Plastics
Owned by Phil and Teresa Johnson, PAYDAC operated out of the old Elizabeth creamery until 2014, and then moved to their current location in Fergus Falls. Named for a combination of the names of the couple’s children (Payton and Dacia), the business specializes in custom plastic injection molding. Via orders from manufacturers in the Twin Cities, Sioux Falls, and Fergus Falls’ own StoneL, the plastic parts PAYDAC creates end up all over the world.
PAYDAC can make a variety of small plastic parts through the use of injection molding. While other methods of plastic molding require plastic pellets to be placed in a mold before they are melted and then rehardened into the final product, injection molding allows for a faster, more precise design by melting the plastic first and then forcing it into the mold.
